Meriam Laminar Flow Elements (LFE's) excel in critical gas and air flow measurements and are frequently utilised in validating calibration standards. Standard models are available to measure as little as 0.2 SCCM (5.9 E-06 SCFM) to as much as 2250 SCFM at standard conditions. Custom models for up to 15,000 SCFM of air are available.

Stainless steel or aluminum materials make laminar flow meters compatible with most gases and flow rate of gas mixtures can also be measured when the percentages of component gases and mixture properties are known. Higher accuracies can be achieved when used in conjunction with the Meriam MDT500 multivariable transmitter and software package. The Meriam laminar flow element matrix is made from individual SS tubes or windings of SS foil. These tubes are long enough, relative to their inside diameter, to cause laminar flow to occur inside each tube resulting in a near linear relationship between DP and flow rate. The DP generated across the matrix responds very quickly to changes in flow, and pressure loss to the system is reduced as each laminar flow element is sized to produce no greater than 8” water column at maximum flowing conditions. Individual tube diameters are very small so flowing gases need to be clean and dry to preserve the calibration. Filtered inlet versions of most laminar gas flow element models are available to keep the matrix clean and the calibration constant.

50MC2 Series

Aluminium housing for low pressure applications. Inlet and outlet are for hose type connections, LFE models for hose type process connections which are conveniently mated to rigid piping with lengths of flexible hose or rubber couplings. The LFE is sealed into the piping system using conventional strap clamps. Differential pressure connections ¼ʺ hose barb. Line sizes 2ʺ to 8ʺ. Max design: 20 PSIG and 150°F.

50MR2 Series

Aluminium housing for low pressure applications. Line connections are 150lb ANSI flanges. Differential pressure connections 1/4” hose barb. Line sizes 2ʺ to 8ʺ.

50MY15 Series

LFE models for flanged process connections are conveniently mated to rigid piping with 150lb ANSI flanges. Flange connections are available for pipe sizes from 2½” (25.4 mm) to 16” (406.4 mm). All Stainless steel welded unit with fused matrix. Differential pressure connections are ¼ʺ NPT.

50MW20 Series

All Stainless steel welded unit with fused matrix and threaded process connections. Differential pressure connections are ¼ʺ NPT and flow elements are available for 1ʺ, 1½ʺ and 2ʺ line sizes.

50MK10 Series

All Stainless steel welded unit, stainless steel capillary tubes and threaded process connections. Inlet, outlet and differential pressure connections are all ¼ʺ NPT and flow elements are available for ¼ʺ line sizes.

50MJ10 Series

All Stainless steel welded unit with fused matrix and threaded process connections. Differential pressure connections are ¼ʺ NPT and line connections are ½ʺ with the exception of Type 9 which has ¾ʺ line connections. Flow elements are available for ½ʺ and ¾ʺ line sizes.

 

 

50MH10 Series

All Stainless steel welded unit with fused matrix. Line connections are tapered ends (no threads) for hose connections. Differential pressure connections are ¼ʺ NPT and flow elements are available for 1ʺ to 16ʺ line sizes.
